So that’s another film project down, so what next? I’ve got so many different projects at various different stages of production and completetion that it’s always a struggle to try and focus on one thing at a time. Sometimes I’ve been working on a project for so long that it lacks any of the urgency or intrigue, so instead I go looking for the next short term deadline or inspiring and exciting new idea.
Also, and on a completely separate point, although it’s true that a blog post too might benefit from focus, I can’t help mentioning here that I’m eating a hot cross bun as I write, which seems to eclipse all other considerations in the world. Hot cross buns!! Who’s with me?
Anyway, I’ve still got a whole series of scripts written as sequels to the London guide, but just haven’t quite found the time to crack on with it. I also have the big project which I’m working on and want to make sure everything is right before we launch into that proper – more on that in the future. I’m also in the process of writing a series of online shorts called ‘Thinking Allowed’ which should be fun, but which is definitely a bit of a personal joy.
With a mind that the Virgin Media Shorts opens next month I guess that will be the next thing to concentrate on, but I’m always looking out for more opportunities, competitions and festivals to gear up towards. And then aside from all that there are a string of people that I’m still wanting and aiming to collaborate with so it’s just a case of devising the right project to get the ball rolling.
For the time being, it’s good to have two things sitting waiting for feedback (and hopefully shortlisting). You can watch our entry to the Sundance London film competition here: www.vimeo.com/samgould/storyofourtime/ and our entry to the Reed film competition here: www.vimeo.com/samgould/lonelyatthetop/ Or you can just click on ‘video’ at the top. Please pass the films around and share online. It’s all a great help, and it’s always nice to receive feedback when people can take the time.
